The events of the past week have brought into sharp focus the racial injustice in our society. The protests across our country highlight what so many in the Black community experience with infuriating regularity: police brutality, systemic racism, and economic injustice. We are not living up to our ideals.
As an organization with a mission to close the racial and gender wealth gaps, today – and every day – ICA stands with our businesses, our entrepreneurs, and our community against these injustices.
We know that the work to end institutionalized racism is an ongoing effort that takes all of us, and at moments like these, it feels overwhelming. We believe that our work to create an economy that works for everyone is just one piece of building a more just world. And that, while important, the impact of our work is not happening fast enough.
In addition to continuing our work to close the racial and gender wealth gaps in the Bay Area, today ICA is making a direct contribution of $5,000 to the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.
ICA remains committed to working with our small businesses to create wealth for entrepreneurs and workers, to investing in the underestimated leaders left out of the Bay Area’s economic growth, and, above all, we are committed to listening to our community.
As an organization, and as a group of individuals who care deeply about justice and equity, we stand with you.
