On November 13th, at the Neyborly in Jack London Square, Oakland, ICA hosted its second-ever pitch event. Over the course of an exciting evening, five Accelerator companies pitched to an audience of investors, community members, funders, and fellow entrepreneurs followed by delicious tacos and refreshments provided by Tacos El Último Baile, an ICA company.
The Fall Accelerator Pitch Event was a chance for companies to showcase their businesses, what they learned during the Accelerator, and get connected to potential investors. The Pitch Event was also the culmination for the fourth ICA Accelerator cohort. During their Accelerator engagement, the cohort focused on their company’s growth and people strategies, as well as identifying the best capital for their growing businesses.
The pitching companies, Cupcakin’ Bake Shop, Localest Foods, Minnie Bell’s Soul Movement, Peaches Patties and Souperb were looking collectively to raise $5m in growth capital, ranging from $500k to $2m in debt and equity.
Pitch event judges Justina Lai of Wetherby Asset Management, Martha Belcher of Retooling for Growth, and our new CEO, Allison Kelly, provided actionable tactical and strategic feedback to all the pitchers.
